What is Zebras?

Speculative Zebras of Iceland is a writers and translators’ collective based in Reykavík, comprised of Elías Knörr, Marjón and Veronica Flórens. They write prose and poetry in Icelandic, English, Galician, French and Spanish and also practice translation between those languages. Born informally from a workshop held in November 2021 by Alexander Dan Vilhjálmsson in Norræna Húsið, the collective started out with Elías and Veronica exchanging ideas and feedback in coffee shops. Later on joined by Marjón, they now meet weekly in the historical Gröndalshús at the heart of Reykjavík, thanks to the support of Reykjavík UNESCO City of Literature.
